Marcel Proust, a Parisian novel

The Carnavalet museum commemorates the 150th anniversary of the birth of Marcel Proust (1871-1922).The exhibition is devoted to the relationship between Marcel Proust and the city of Paris, where most of his existence takes place.The first part of the exhibition explores the Parisian universe of the writer. Marcel Proust’s life took place in the heart of a very small space, a quadrilateral stretching from Parc Monceau to Place de la Concorde, from Concorde to Auteuil, from Auteuil to Bois de Boulogne and to Etoile. Thanks to Paris, this brings him a decisive dimension in the awakening of his vocation. In addition, his discovery of artistic and social circles in Paris, the friendships and loves that arise there, strengthen the personality of the writer and lead him to the revelation of his vocation.The second part of the exhibition opens onto the fictional Paris created by Marcel Proust. Grand Prix d’Amérique

The Prix d’Amérique is a horse race taking place on the last Sunday in January at the Vincennes racecourse.It is one of the three biggest international events with the Eliteloppet in Sweden and the Hambletonian Stakes in the United States.The race is an International Group race reserved for horses from 4 to 6 years old.The first edition took place in 1920 and ran over 2500m.During the Second World War, the Prix d’Amérique never took place. Vincent Van Gogh

The new digital exhibition of the Atelier des Lumières, offers an immersion in the paintings of Vincent van Gogh (1852-1890), genius ignored during his lifetime, which has upset the painting. Marrying the entire space of the Atelier, this new visual and sound creation, traces the tormented life of the artist, who painted during the last 10 years of his life, more than 2000 paintings, today scattered through the world.Vincent Willem van Gogh, was born on March 30, 1853 in Groot-Zundert, the Netherlands. His work full of naturalism, inspired by Impressionism and Pointillism, announces Fauvism and Expressionism. Van Gogh grew up in a family of the old bourgeoisie. He first tries to make a career as an art dealer. Refusing to see art as a commodity, he is fired. He then aspires to become a pastor, but he fails the theology exams. At the approach of 1880, he turned to painting. During these years, he left the Netherlands for Belgium, then France to settle there. He then explores painting and drawing both as an autodidact and as a student. However, his life is peppered with crises that reveal his mental instability.
